RE: Would you pay off mtr hme with savings?

I am debating close to the same thing, just not concidering full timing. My decision was to set up a home equity loan against the house just incase I need one in an emergency. I was able to get one at a full point below prime. It did not cost anything, and does not cost anything unless I use it. Meanwhile, every day I don't use it I save money, and if I do need it the interest is less, and the amount is still tax deductable. Just a thought... Bill

RE: White Water Rafting between CA and NY in August?

The Tetons got over 600" of snow this year and Jackson Lake is already at close to 100%. The Snake River should be great, and the views and animal life are hard to beat... Bill

RE: Yellowstone or Glacier/Which has MORE WILDLIFE?

In pure wildlife terms I would vote for Yellowstone. A good day in the Lamar Valley will reward you with both bears, big horns, bison, elk, fox, coyotes, wolves, badgers, otters, eagles, beavers, and with any luck up around Silver Lake you may see moose and on the Baronette Peaks mountain goats. Glacier has beautiful scenery but not the large open valleys like Lamar and Hayden. But if you want scenery you can always sneak down to the Tetons! Bill

RE: 89/191/287 CA to S. Entrance of Yellowstone

We do route 89 every trip to the Tetons and Yellowstone. Our preference is to stay at Willard Bay campground just north of Ogden the night before. Then head north the next morning catching 89 right there in town. It will be green and beautiful all the way to the Tetons through Star Valley and the stretch along the Snake River just out of Alpine is always rewarding. There are a couple of hills to climb but all in all it's a great way to go. Stop in at Bear Lake for a raspberry shake. It's a must for my family. We'll be doing the same route again this year in mid June. Have fun.. Bill

RE: Dish and King Dome

I just went through a problem with mine last week. It was slow finding satellites if at all and would not lock in. The techs at KD suggested I replace some parts. They sent me a new LNB, a new RF box and a small cable that connects the LNB to the RF box, all inside the dome. He also sent me a new tuner and an upgrade box that would reprogram the dish to automatically change the satellite from 119 to 110 if the channel required it. It turned out to be the LNB. I returned the rest of the parts and am awaiting credit. Since it wasn't the tuner I sent it back. Didn't make sense to pay $305 for a new tuner just to change channels. By the way I think the LNB was $77. Good luck, Bill

RE: Refridgerator Problems! Help! Why does it pop the breaker!

Are you sure it's the refrigerator? Plug in the camper, then start the refrigerator. Is it a circuit breaker, or a GFCI that's breaking?

RE: Winnebago Sightseer 2006 26p

I paid $63,000 for a new sightseer 29R in May of 2005. Really like the unit. used priced guide

RE: Fishing Bridge S to Tetons then back to Wash

If you don't need hookups I'd suggest Signal Mountain Campground, a little more centrally located but get there early. If you get in the park later (after 12:00) and Signal is full, try Colter Bay. It fills up around 4:00 on average. If you get there really late, the Gros Ventre usually doesn't fill but it is way south closer to the town of Jackson.

RE: F-53 Parking Brake Light w/HWH Jacks

I installed my HWH levelers almost 3 years ago so I'll do my best to remember here. There is a ground wire from the HWH panel with a diode in it that goes to the brake pedal ground wire. When you activate the brake, the dash light and HWH panel both go to ground. I almost bypassed the brake pedal connection when installing the panel because it was very hard to get to the brake ground wire. All you need to do is connect the HWH ground wire to your chassis. The people at HWH are really helpful. When I received my levelers they came boxed on a big pallet straight from the factory. There were no instructions. Needless to say I made a few phone calls!

RE: Mammoth Ca.

If you want be close to the town for a day to resupply try Shady Rest CG right across the street from Mammoth RV park. It doesn't have hookups but does have a dump station...

RE: Camping & Yellowstone

27'is doable in all the campsites. If you want geysers stay at Madison or Norris, closest to Old Faithful and Norris Geyser basin. For animals Canyon, near Hayden Valley and the Yellowstone Falls is convenient. The Northeast part of the park, Tower/Roosevelt and Lamar Valley is very good for black/grizzly bears and wolves. The campgrounds there include Tower, Slough Creek and Pebble Creek. Most of those campgrounds are non-reservable, first come basis. Get there early in the day so you're not out of luck. Also, the only campgrounds that have dump facilities are Fishing Bridge, Bridge Bay and Madison. Water is available at the others but Pebble Creek has a hand pump making it hard to get into your trailer. It's a big park, give yourself plenty of days if you can... Here's a link to our trip last May. The website will give you plenty of other information too. Yellowstone pics

RE: CA hwy 1 from Crescent city to L.A in 40 ft DP

I have driven multiple times from the Hwy 1 turnoff at San Luis Obispo through Monterey, Santa Cruz and up through San Francisco in motor homes and pulling boats and trailers. The 90 miles between San Simeon and Carmel is the windiest part but the road is decent if there have been no rock slides. Hwy 1 between Liggett off 101 and south to San Franciso is very windy, very narrow and much of it rough. I did it last time in a crewcab truck and that was uncomfortable enough for me to swear off ever doing it again. The scenery is beautiful but hard to enjoy. If you do it, take a few days so you're not drained. That was in 2000.

RE: one more grand tetons question

Signal Mountain is a centrally located CG and very nice. It's also very close to Oxbow Bend turnout for early morning and late evening animal watching. Jackson Lake Lodge is also very close by and a great place to see moose (behind the lodge)in the early mornings... Bill

RE: Colter Bay Campground - GTNP

You should have no problem getting a spot in mid June. I have been there many times in mid June and it did not fill at all. Smaller campgrounds like Signal Mountain may fill in the afternoon, but in mid June that may not happen either. By the way, check out Signal Mountain if you want a more central CG. Bill

RE: Yellowstone NP & cell phone signal question

I have Verizon and have made calls around Old Faithful and the north side of Mt. Washburn down into Tower and as far east as the area known as Little America on the way out the northeast entrance road. Bill

RV Parks near Bosque Del Apache NWR

Thinking about heading to the reserve after the first of the year but can't find much information on where to stay nearby. Looking for knowledge of the campgrounds and their proximity to the reserve. Thanks, Bill
